Easyriders - Hue to Hoi An

July 19, 2016 - Planes, trains, automobiles and MOTORCYCLES
On this day the Feher Family joined with the Hue Easyriders for an amazing tour down the coast traveling from Hue to Hoi An. This is considered to be one of the most scenic costal routes in Vietnam, and it was a great opportunity for us to travel in true Viet style - motorbike.  Reflecting on the day, it ranks as one of the coolest experiences we've had as a family.  We travelled over 130km from Hue to Hoi An via the Hai Van Pass. Mr. Bi, Mr. Quang, Mr. Tu and Mr. Trung were our drivers and guides for the trip!

This was the itinerary of the trip:
We left Hue at 8:00 am in the morning. Our first stop was the Elephant Springs where we jumped and swam in the rock pools.
Next we stop for photos at Lang Co Beach before traveling over the Hai Van Pass. Hai Van means "Sea of Clouds" and when crossing the top of the Pass you may be literally surrounded by clouds on one side with stunning ocean views on the other.
Then we travelled through Danang and stopped at the famous China Beach with its fine white sand. Marble Mountains was our final stop.  This is a group of 5 marble outcrops topped with delicate pagodas.

Getting ready for the trip and putting all our backpacks securely on the bikes.

On our way...

Beautiful countryside.

Elephant Springs. We cooled down and swam for an hour. The kids loved jumping of the rocks and sliding down them into the water.

Who needs a water slide?

Rehydration and ice cream at Hai Van Pass

Stunning views.

Remains of war bunkers from the Vietnam War (aka the American War). This part of the country saw some of the heaviest battles during this war.

My Khe Beach aka China Beach in Da Nang City.

It was so hot, that we would only park in the shade, even photo stops were quick to keep from roasting in the sun.  If you ever embark on a trip like this be sure to pack long sleeves and pants to protect from the sun.  We had to reapply sunscreen from a dwindling supply in order to prevent getting crispy.
Stop at the marble village. We chose not to go up the Marble Mountains because we were pretty tired at the end of the day (having ridden over 130km) and we had visited many cave temples during our summer trip - as the kids would say...we're all templed and pagodad out... ;-) As an alternative we walked through the marble village admiring all the beautiful marble works - everything from home decor to statues to furniture.

George Bush Jr. - Talk to the hand.

David, naming every statue according to its facial expression and accessories.

Thank you for the safe and incredible ride!
Hopefully we will
see you again! Hẹn gặp lại!

Saying goodbye.

Evening - Time to cool off at An Bang Beach.
