Dream BIG! One of my dreams has always been to travel the world with my family, and never in my wildest dreams could I have dreamed up the opportunities we have NOW!!!!...Embarking on a journey of a lifetime...after living in Vietnam for the last 11 months and travelling to Thailand and Cambodia during the past year, we are now beginning our summer travels. 1st leg: 10 days backpacking in Borneo. We start off with a one night stop-over in Kuala Lumpur. Just enough time to enjoy some roti and roti pisang (banana roti) for dinner before departing to Sabah.

The next day we took the LRT to the KLIA 2 airport and were on our way to Tawau. We had booked our trip to Tawau, because we had originally planned to snorkel and scuba dive of the islands of eastern Borneo, but after learning about ransom kidnappings which had recently escalated in the area we decided to fly from Tawau right to Sandkan. Our flight in Tawau was delayed for 5 hours. Being at a VERY small airport, we had to make our own entertainment. We played cards, we ate, we checked out the shops (like five altogether including the restaurant). We enjoyed the massage chairs and the kids gave each other massages. We also celebrated Veronika's 11th bday and Father's Day with some cake and coffee!

Then we boarded our propeller plane (which kind of felt like the Magic School Bus) and we were off...finally.
