Saigon International Schools U11 and U9 Swim Meet

It was a great day for the CIS U11 and U9 swimmers today at the swim meet at the British Vietnamese International School in Ho Chi Minh City.  With only 10 swimmers participating in the meet, they managed to take home 16 top three finishes.  Veronika and Viktor both swam great races.  Veronika hadn't even wanted to participate, but ended up having a great day swimming strong in her events and cheering on her brother and friends.  I explained to her that even if this wasn't her best sport...she loves cross country running and track and field, it is important to try everything, and just have fun...especially when dad is the coach!  I was so happy she had a great day.  For Viktor, this day was extra special, because he is only in grade 3, and this year has been his first year competing in sports.  He had an exceptionally successful day placing 1st in the 25m Freestyle, 1st in 25m Butterfly, and 2nd in the 50m Freestyle.  His 100m Freestyle, and 100m Medley Relay Teams also placed 3rd in each race! The U9 boys team (consisting of only 4 swimmers) was so successful that they actually took home the U9 Boys team trophy and were named Champions!  It was quite the shocker, because most of the teams there had more than double the number of swimmers on their team... To say we are proud is an understatement.  Thank you so much to Coach Stepan (dad) and Coach Frank for spending the time this year with the team!  It was such a fun day!
